Fashion Designer Jerri Moore<\/a> \u00a0started her fashion career with a bang, debuting her first collection on the Fashion Houston<\/a> runway last year. This year she\u2019s back, showing just before one of the designers she most admires, Monique Lhuillhier<\/a>\u00a0on the last day of the event.<\/p>\n

Jerri is grateful for all the support Houstonians have given her and says she is so honored to be mentioned in the same sentence at Chloe Dao<\/a> and David Peck<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jerri\u2019s 15 years as an actress and film producer influences her collections of special occasion gowns and cocktail dresses. Her latest collection, Spring 2013, is inspired by the Great Gatsby and is a marriage of old Hollywood and modern romance. It is light and airy with all the hues of misty and sparkling morning light.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Before launching her line, Jerri\u2019s customer was herself. Now her pieces are sold in boutiques in Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi<\/a>. In her first year of business, she\u2019s worked with individual clients creating custom garments and with buyers choosing pieces to carry in their stores. It was a year of enlightenment, she learned even more about silhouettes, fit, fabric and what women buy.<\/p>\n

With this practical experience under her belt, she is more purposeful in the placement of details, ruffles, ruching and draping. She\u2019s discovered that light taffeta works better than satin (shiny satin shows EVERY figure and fabrication imperfection and even creates the illusion of a few extra ones) and a few sequins go a long way. Now, her gowns have a slim fit AND camouflage chicken wings, muffins and cheese cake.<\/p>\n

Jerri embraces the practical side of fashion. She gets the difference between how a dress works in a sketch on paper versus how the dress works on a real human form.\u00a0 This is the step many (maybe even most?) designers miss. Jerri\u2019s gowns and cocktail attire accommodates figure imperfections and undergarments. When you wear Jerri Moore, you can actually wear your bra!<\/p>\n
