According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christies.com\/features\/arbiter-of-style-ken-downing-1704-1.aspx\">Ken Downing<\/a>, Fashion Director for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neimanmarcus.com\/\">Neiman Marcus<\/a>, the important trends are:<\/p>\n<p>Pinks, Yellows, Prints,\u00a0Fancy Pants,\u00a0The Clutch,\u00a0Silver Shoes,\u00a0Dramatic Earrings,\u00a0Tribal, and\u00a0Sporty Details. <a href=\"http:\/\/houston.fgi.org\/\">FGI<\/a> members got this reference card at the Spring Trend Event hosted by Nieman Marcus on Feb 23, 2012.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarahshah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/spring-2012-trends.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-817\" title=\"spring 2012 trends\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sarahshah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/spring-2012-trends-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Translating the trends from runway looks to real life can be tricky. Runway fashion is designed to look dramatic and exciting on tiny models (as young as 14!). These looks don\u2019t translate directly to curvy adult women living in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>The trick to incorporating trends into your wardrobe is knowing how to wear them in a way that flatters your figure. For attention getting trends like bright yellow and pink, wear them to highlight your assets. Wear&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bright earrings to bring attention to the face,<\/li>\n<li>Necklaces to highlight the throat and chest,<\/li>\n<li>Tops and jackets to show off the torso and upper body,<\/li>\n<li>Belts to highlight a small waist,<\/li>\n<li>Pants and skirts to make the lower half more curvy, and<\/li>\n<li>Shoes or bags to take attention away from the whole body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have a tummy, choose styles that give you a little extra room in your waist but still lay close to your body. The key is to get a slim fit without any pulling or gapping.<\/p>\n<p>Make these bright colors look modern by paired them with gray, white, tan and metallic.
